Joe Hendry isn’t just showing up in NXT to make cameos—he’s all in. After TNA President Carlos Silva confirmed that Hendry officially signed with WWE, Hendry himself has finally broken his silence on why he signed with NXT—and he’s laser-focused on one goal: becoming the best wrestler in the world.
Speaking on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, Hendry made it clear this move wasn’t about hype, title shots, or brand visibility. It was about self-improvement.
“Right now I’m obsessed with getting better at wrestling and becoming the absolute best professional wrestler I can be. That’s the main reason I chose to come to NXT — to evolve as a wrestler, because I truly feel I can take this all the way. The Performance Center has the tools for me to do that.”
According to Joe Hendry, his obsession with growth has taken over his daily life. Relaxing? Not easy anymore.
“I actually find it really hard to switch off from the wrestling business and relax. If my friends or family are playing games or hanging out, I can kind of pull myself away for a moment, but it’s still tough for me.”
For Hendry, NXT offers more than TV time—it offers pressure, competition, and the kind of daily challenges that force greatness.
“One thing I love about the Performance Center is that it keeps me on my toes every single day because I’m surrounded by world-class athletes and world-class talent… I can’t let myself be in a position where I’m not prepared or where I’d show up and be embarrassed.”
He’s working closely with wrestling legend Terry Taylor to sharpen his skills, and he’s genuinely grateful to be in this phase of his career.
“I get paid to learn from the best coaches in the world… I remember having to pay so much money just to train before. Now my job is literally to go in and get better at the craft I love. I’m a pretty fortunate guy.”
Hendry’s comments paint a crystal-clear picture: this isn’t just a career move — it’s a commitment to excellence, and NXT is the place he believes he can reach his absolute peak. With his obsession for improvement and WWE fully backing him, Joe Hendry might be entering the strongest stage of his career.
