Jimmy Uso might be one-half of one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history, but that doesn’t mean people always get his name right. In fact, even after 14 years in the company, Jimmy says he’s still being confused for his twin brother Jey Uso — and not just by fans.
During his recent appearance on Cheap Heat, Jimmy revealed that longtime WWE staffers, including people he’s worked with every week for over a decade, still call him “Jey” to his face.
“It’s still going on today. I own all my kids, all my wife, and you know what? Even the closest homie that been there our whole career [does it]. They’ll be like, ‘Hey, Jey,’ and I’ll just stop, bro. And I’ll just look at them. They’re like, ‘Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I did not mean to call you that.’ I was like, ‘Bro, I’ve known you my whole career. I’ve seen you my whole career here. You tell me what match I got. I know you. You know me. You know me know you.’ But I got to give him hell, though. I got to get ’em.”
And it’s not just backstage. Jimmy admitted that fans do it constantly in public too. Whether he’s out and about or flying city to city for WWE shows, he’s regularly called the wrong twin — and usually just plays along.
“It’s all good. If I’m hooded up, I just keep it moving. Hey, what’s up? That’s what it is. At least I’m a twin, you know? I just eat it up. You [Peter], you and Ebro just look alike — that’s worse!”
Even though Jimmy and Jey have developed very different on-screen personas, the confusion hasn’t gone away. Jimmy noted that only after their recent split did they begin really distinguishing themselves with different haircuts, gear, and attitudes — but for many people in WWE, old habits die hard.
It’s a hilarious — and slightly frustrating — reminder that even WWE’s top performers aren’t immune from being mixed up. Jimmy’s taking it in stride, but make no mistake: he’s ready to remind everyone exactly who he is.
