Jimmy Jacobs is firing back at accusations that he was leaking AEW information to WWE, making it clear that the rumors were nothing but false narratives. In an exclusive interview with Mark O’Brien for Bodyslam.net, the former AEW producer shut down the speculation, calling out those who painted him as a backstage informant.
“There were people that had this narrative that I was a leak in WWE, which I absolutely 100% was not,” Jacobs said. “It was just a complete fabrication.”
Jacobs, a Ring of Honor legend, found himself at the center of AEW locker room drama, with some blaming him for inside information making its way to WWE. Now, he’s making sure his side of the story is heard, saying that the gossip about him being a leak couldn’t be further from the truth.
He admitted that dealing with the rumors took a personal toll, as he found himself judged for things he never did. “I still honestly haven’t gotten used to being judged by lies.”
Jacobs also set the record straight on his actual role in AEW, saying that despite online claims, he wasn’t behind major creative decisions. “I would challenge anybody to name one segment that I wrote and produced at AEW,” he said. “Mostly, what I did at AEW was admin stuff… I was a channel for information.”
He also called out how little fans actually know about wrestling’s creative process, revealing that even wrestlers themselves aren’t always fully aware of how decisions get made. “I was shocked when I got to WWE and realized that the wrestlers didn’t even know the creative process… of course, these fans online absolutely don’t.”
Despite the drama, Jacobs had nothing but praise for AEW and Tony Khan, saying that the promotion has created better financial opportunities for wrestlers across the industry.
“Tony Khan has had a positive effect on the wrestling business that it can’t be understated. So many people are making a living and making good money because of Tony.”
Jacobs knows his time in AEW is over, but his words leave plenty of questions about how misinformation spreads in the wrestling world.
