WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan remains a controversial figure for many reasons, which is why he was heavily booed during the January 6 edition of Monday Night RAW. Jimmy Hart was also present with Hogan during the show and he has now downplayed the boos entirely.
While speaking to Going Ringside, Jimmy Hart addressed the reaction Hulk Hogan received during WWE Raw’s Netflix debut in California, where the crowd booed Hogan, something he hadn’t experienced since his nWo days.
When asked about the moment, Hart believed the reaction was because of politics, noting that the next night in Texas, Hogan got a standing ovation. He completely downplayed the boos, saying it was just because of the location and that they still love everyone.
“Red state, blue state—you think that’s what it was about? Of course it was! Are you kidding me? Because the next day, we were in Texas, and it was a standing ovation everywhere. But that’s all it was. Oh, please, come on—you know that! Well, that’s what a lot of people were saying—that it was Southern California. You know how it is, baby. But that’s okay. Everything’s beautiful. We love everybody still. It’s great!”
As reported earlier, in addition to the chorus of boos, off-camera chants of “F*** Hulk Hogan” could be heard throughout the arena. In fact, the likes of Seth Rollins also believe that the WWE Hall of Famer deserved all the boos he received in California.
It was also previously reported that WWE is planning a potential heel turn for Hulk Hogan following the negative reception he received during the RAW Netflix premiere. Despite the mixed crowd response, Hogan’s role in WWE remains a topic of interest. It remains to be seen when he will make his next appearance on WWE television.
