Jim Ross hasn’t been behind the AEW commentary desk in months—but now, the Hall of Famer is offering a real update on his future, and it’s exactly what fans were hoping to hear.
During a recent episode of Grilling JR, the legendary announcer gave some insight into how he’s feeling after stepping away to focus on his health. And the news? It’s looking good.
“I feel good though. I feel good about being home. I feel healthier than I’ve felt in a long time. I’ve got plenty of energy and I’m thankful to be back on the air.”
Ross has battled colon cancer and taken much-needed time off to recover and recharge. While fans were hoping to see him pop up at Full Gear, JR was realistic—but optimistic—about the timing.
“Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. That’s the plan, in the next few weeks. So yeah, I’m excited about that opportunity. Next week is Full Gear. It may be too soon for me to be at that one, but I’m sure it’ll be sooner rather than later.”
Even though Full Gear might not be his official return, AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view next month is starting to look like a real possibility. Either way, JR sounds ready to go—and that’s what matters most.
After decades in the business and a battle with cancer, hearing Jim Ross say he’s got his energy back and is eager to return is a win for wrestling fans everywhere.
