Jim Ross isn’t holding back when it comes to the negativity surrounding Hulk Hogan’s death.
On a recent episode of Grilling JR, the WWE Hall of Famer addressed what he sees as an ugly trend—fans using Hogan’s passing as an excuse to tear him down. Ross took aim at critics who couldn’t put aside their issues with the Hulkster, urging them to show respect instead of hate. For Ross, this isn’t about Hogan’s controversies—it’s about honoring a man who sacrificed his body and gave everything to the wrestling business.
“There are a contingent of wrestling fans who don’t wish anything but the worst for Hulk Hogan. That’s sad, that’s just sad. Come on. Get over it, get over yourself.”
Ross reminded listeners that Hogan had a family and endured the brutal grind of the territory days long before wrestling became mainstream. Comparing Hogan to a “Road Warrior-type guy,” Ross said the man’s work ethic and impact should be enough to earn respect.
“The guy had a family. He was a Road Warrior-type guy. The territory days were hard. I just hate to see people waste their time, energy, and spirit on so much negativity. It feels ugly, it feels dark, and it’s a complete waste of your time. Clear your head. Show your respect. And if you’re a wrestling fan, you can’t do anything but honor his memory. You can’t.”
Hulk Hogan’s legacy will always be debated, but Ross made it clear—some fans need to put their bitterness aside and remember what Hogan meant to professional wrestling. Love him or hate him, Hogan helped shape the business into what it is today.
