Danhausen’s WWE debut is still getting people talking — and now Jim Ross is weighing in with a blunt take.
While speaking on the Grilling JR podcast on March 5, 2026, the legendary announcer shared his honest reaction to Danhausen’s arrival in WWE — and he admitted the moment left him unimpressed. Ross began by saying he didn’t want his criticism to come across as a personal attack on the performer himself, making it clear he respects Danhausen as a person.
“I was nonplussed, underwhelmed. I’m not knocking Danhausen — he’s a good kid and his heart’s in the right place. I hope he finds success. He’s a nice guy, nice as hell. But to be honest with you, I just thought it was underwhelming.”
According to Ross, the issue wasn’t necessarily the character itself but the scale of the moment in which it was introduced. Ross also questioned whether the debut came before enough fans were familiar with the character, suggesting the reaction might have been different if the audience had stronger awareness of Danhausen.
“It’s like WrestleMania, for God’s sake. You just don’t… I don’t know, it put Danhausen in a tough spot. Was he ready for that moment? I don’t think he was. I think there are a lot of people who didn’t even know who the hell he was.”
Danhausen debuted at Elimination Chamber, where he got a ton of mixed responses after emerging from a mystery crate and immediately became one of the night’s most talked-about moments. He then showed up on the March 2 episode of Monday Night Raw. During that segment, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce introduced him to The Judgment Day, where Danhausen “cursed” Dominik Mysterio backstage.
Before Ross’ comments, WWE creative figure Gabe Sapolsky publicly defended the signing and praised Danhausen’s willingness to embrace something different in wrestling. Now with opinions starting to roll in — including Ross’ critical take — it’s clear that Danhausen’s unusual character is going to keep people talking as WWE figures out how to use him going forward.
