AEW legend Jim Ross will not be behind the commentary desk for this week’s Dynamite—and the reason is another frightening health scare.

The Hall of Fame announcer revealed on Monday that he suffered a fall at home that left him stranded on his living room floor for five hours. While JR didn’t go into further medical detail, he made it clear that the incident was serious enough to force him to cancel his trip to Orlando for this week’s AEW taping.

“Great #CFBPlayoff game tonight! Congrats to @IUHoosiers for an amazing win vs @CanesFootball. My trip to Orlando for @AEW Dynamite is postponed due to an untimely fall that saw me lying on my living room floor for 5 hours. I’ll be watching!” Ross wrote on X.

This isn’t the first time JR has had to deal with a scary fall. Ahead of AEW All In last August, he also revealed he had suffered “a bad fall” just days before flying to London—but still made the trip and worked the commentary desk for the company’s biggest show ever.

The 74-year-old has faced multiple health battles in recent years. In 2023, he announced that his cancer was “gone” and had been gradually making more appearances for AEW ever since. Most recently, Ross returned to AEW commentary earlier this month to call Dynamite in his home state of Oklahoma—a triumphant return that fans embraced with open arms.

While he won’t be in Orlando this week, Jim Ross assured fans he’ll be watching the show from home.

Jim Ross has given so much to the business, but health always comes first. What’s your favorite JR commentary moment? Drop it in the comments and let’s send him some love while he recovers.
