Jim Ross isn’t sold on WWE’s current WrestleMania setup—and he made it clear he still prefers keeping it to one massive night.

Speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross was asked whether he prefers WrestleMania as a one-night or two-night event. His answer was immediate—and definitive: “One. One night.”

Ross explained that for him, WrestleMania works best when everything is packed into one stacked card instead of being split across two nights. Even so, Ross made it clear he understands why WWE moved to two nights—but he still leans heavily toward the traditional format.

“I think you load your wagon. One night, to me, works. But I’m not anti a two-night show—I get it. But I’m a bigger fan of loading the wagon and having one huge, magnificent night of sports entertainment and athleticism and so forth. So we’re going to see where it takes us. I love destinations, especially when I don’t know what the destination is. That’s one of the charms of pro wrestling—surprises.”

He also hinted that the current structure may not be generating the same level of attention across both nights—especially when it comes to fan conversation. That observation led Ross to question whether the second night is getting the same level of buzz as the first.

“WrestleMania—I might be wrong, Conrad, and you tell me—you’re a huge fan and you’re a much smarter guy than me—but it seems to me like the formula has changed. I don’t hear much about the second night of WrestleMania on social media and so forth.”

And when it comes down to it, Ross made his stance clear—he’s still backing the one-night approach: “So, you know, time will tell, as the old cliché goes. But I’m a lot more positive about a one-night WrestleMania than I am a two-night WrestleMania.”

With WrestleMania continuing as a two-night event in recent years, Ross’ comments tap into an ongoing debate about whether splitting the show improves the experience—or takes away from its impact as one singular spectacle. If WWE ever reconsidered the format, it would be a major change—but for now, the two-night structure remains in place, even as voices like Ross continue to push for a return to one.
