Jim Ross isn’t going anywhere. The legendary voice of professional wrestling just confirmed he’s signed a new one-year deal with AEW — ending weeks of speculation that he might jump back to WWE.
On his Grilling JR podcast, Ross directly addressed the rumors and made it clear there’s been zero contact between him and WWE.
“I saw somewhere online where it said I was in negotiations with WWE to go back. I hadn’t heard that one. I haven’t talked to them, no plans to go back. It’s just not the right time for me to get more involved in the business.”
He added that while he’s open to listening if WWE approached him with a unique idea, he’s fully content with the freedom and reduced schedule AEW offers him.
“But they could come to me with an idea we haven’t discussed, and I might reconsider. Still, I like where I am. I like the schedule I have, the freedom I have. I enjoy working with the young talent in AEW. I’m happy where I am—really am. Not a lot of stress or pressure.”
Ross then revealed that his new AEW contract runs through next summer — around August 2026 — and includes fewer dates. He’ll primarily work pay-per-views and some TV shows, which is exactly the balance he wants at this stage in his legendary career.
“I just signed a new contract for a year. Got that done before I left. I’m with AEW for one year, until next summer, next August I think it is. I’ve got fewer dates, and I like that. So I have a deal that’s very desirable, to be honest with you.”
“My schedule is basically going to be to work pay-per-views and assorted appearances on TV, and I expect to do all the pay-per-views. I’m happy with my deal and happy to go back to working with Tony.”
With his contract renewed and his future clear, Ross is ready to keep calling the action for AEW’s biggest events — just the way he wants it.
