Good Ol’ JR is ready to get back in the game.
Wrestling legend Jim Ross shared the update fans have been waiting for on his Grilling JR podcast—his cancer battle is over, and now all he wants is to return to work with AEW. Ross, who’s been off TV for months dealing with health issues, made it clear he’s had enough of life on the sidelines.
“No, just get back to work,” Ross said when asked about his next steps. “Yeah, I’m tired of sitting at home, and I’m excited about the opportunities that await. I am feeling better. My plan is to be in Dallas for the big event [AEW All In].”
But the real good news came when JR revealed his cancer is officially gone.
“You never know about tomorrow. The cancer’s gone, which I’m very happy to say,” Ross confirmed. “So you know, I’m blessed that my health has returned, and I’m feeling pretty damn good.”
Ross also had high praise for AEW President Tony Khan, crediting him for being a true leader through it all.
“I’m very indebted to AEW for hiring me, bringing me on board, and Tony Khan has been amazingly wonderful during my illness,” Ross shared. “He supported me wholeheartedly and I really do appreciate that. That’s the way a boss should act, should do is take care of your people. And Tony Khan has certainly taken good care of me, and I plan on being reciprocal and doing my best to take care of him in my role going forward.”
With AEW’s massive All In weekend set for Arlington, Texas, Ross is planning to be there, starting with the Starrcast convention on July 11 and the pay-per-view on July 12. It’s not yet confirmed if he’ll be calling matches, but JR seems determined to be part of the action.
