Jim Cornette is setting the record straight after a fake AEW press release started circulating online, claiming he was banned from the promotion. Cornette addressed the phony statement on his podcast, pointing out how some fans actually believed it was legit.
“It’s cute and somebody, you know, mocked it up and everything to where it looks like one of their press releases,” Cornette said. He noted that the fake release included bizarre claims, such as AEW extending “14 cordial invitations” to him over the years, all of which he supposedly declined.
Cornette didn’t hold back as he mocked the fake statement, especially a part that claimed Donald Trump would be attending AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. “There was the second red flag that this was a [__] rib,” Cornette said. “Of all people that he would not be somebody that that crowd would ban.”
Cornette also expressed disbelief over how many people fell for the parody press release. “People gloss over, they don’t read with attention, they just kind of scan for words they like,” he said.

FOR INTERNAL RELEASE ONLYJACKSONVILLE, FL [APRIL 30, 2025]:
All Elite Wrestling has always been about inclusivity, passion, and elevating the art of professional wrestling. Over the years, we have extended fourteen cordial invitations to legendary wrestling personality Jim Cornette to attend AEW events, all of which he has publicly declined. While we respect differing opinions, Mr. Cornette’s persistent public criticism of AEW, women’s wrestling, and wrestlers of smaller stature, combined with his extreme political views expressed on social media and his podcast, has made it clear that his presence would be disruptive to our community and values. Effective immediately, Jim Cornette is no longer welcome at AEW events.
We remain focused on delivering world-class wrestling to our fans. I’m thrilled to announce that our upcoming pay-per-view, Double or Nothing, on May 25, promises to be possibly the greatest wrestling PPV of all time—in all of history. Adding to the excitement, President Donald Trump will be in attendance, joining fans for what will be an unforgettable night. We can’t wait to see you there!
Tony Khan
President, All Elite Wrestling

Despite the fake press release making the rounds, Cornette remains unbothered and continues to speak his mind about AEW and other wrestling topics.
