Ricochet’s situation isn’t cooling off — it’s getting worse, and now Jim Cornette is tearing into how he tried to fix it.
After the AEW star deleted his controversial multiple sclerosis comment and issued an apology, Cornette weighed in with a sharp take on his YouTube channel. Instead of giving Ricochet credit for owning up to the mistake, Cornette made it clear he doesn’t believe the apology came from a genuine place. He suggested the move was forced — not voluntary.
“It sounds to me like some adult in his periphery — whether it was professional or personal, his mother, his wife, his boss, whoever — went and said, ‘Dumb***, look what you’ve just said. What the f***? Look what you look like for saying what you’ve just said.’ Probably shamed him — shamed him, as Aunt Lola would say — into some form of realization that he had f***** up.”
Cornette didn’t stop at questioning the apology — he went deeper, pointing to Ricochet’s own admission that he gets emotionally pulled into online arguments instead of ignoring them.
“He has admitted that he actually, legitimately does get mad at each and every one of these instead of just, ‘block you, smartass…’ He’s legitimately mad and stirred up by these people, and that’s why he keeps jousting with them and putting his foot in his mouth.”
From there, the criticism turned more personal, with Cornette arguing Ricochet lacks the control and awareness needed to make his online persona work — especially if he’s trying to pass it off as heel behavior.
“The problem is that Ricochet sounds like he’s f****** 12… He can’t make the statement that ‘I’m trying to be a heel and draw money with my character’ because he sounds like he’s f****** 12 with some of this s***.”
Jim Cornette framed the entire situation as a failure in professionalism, saying Ricochet isn’t coming across as sharp or calculated — just reckless.
“There’s no wit, there’s no professionalism. He’s just going at people… Either pick one and slice them to the bone and let it be an example… or just block them and move on. If you can’t fence… then he just sounds like an idiot with an issue.”
Ricochet already tried to clean things up after admitting he crossed a line, but the backlash hasn’t faded — and now his apology itself is being picked apart publicly. At the same time, there are already reports suggesting AEW management is aware of the situation internally, leading to questions about how serious this could get.
What started as one comment has now turned into a full situation involving backlash, damage control, and a lot more. And with voices like Cornette weighing in this strongly, it’s not slowing down anytime soon.
