Jim Cornette is fuming over WWE’s latest celebrity stunt—and this time, his target is none other than country-rap star Jelly Roll.
On a recent episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, the wrestling veteran tore into the storyline involving Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and Jelly Roll from Saturday Night’s Main Event. The segment featured Jelly Roll getting physical, pulling Logan Paul off Orton and hitting him with a forearm before getting laid out by a Claymore Kick from McIntyre. But Cornette wasn’t buying the theatrics.
“Here comes Roll, and he pulls Logan Paul off, and they get nose to nose, and Roll hits him with a forearm, kind of sort of somewhere around there, and Logan Paul went down and rolled out.”
Cornette was disgusted with the entire presentation, calling it a disgrace to wrestling fans.
“Sometimes you’re embarrassed to be a wrestling fan and watch either one of them… In the WWE, the singers interrupt the wrestling. And in the WWE, fat f—ing singers can beat up the wrestlers. That’s the best way to get booked well, is to sing.”
He even targeted Jelly Roll’s weight loss journey, saying it removed whatever believability he once had.
“It’s like, the jelly has been sucked out… At least when he was 500 pounds, you could think, you know, get three steps of momentum going for a guy, and you got 500 pounds of just f—ing mass coming at you.”
Comparing it to celebrity appearances of the past, Cornette said WWE missed the mark badly.
“These are two main event, f—ing guys against Randy Orton and Jelly Roll. And, I mean, is this any better than Jay Leno? At least Leno was in shape back then.”
And if that wasn’t enough, Cornette clowned on Jelly Roll’s music too.
“Crap. Country and rap, crap. There they go. Jelly Roll’s genre is crap.”
He went on to question if Jelly Roll was even famous enough for this kind of spotlight:
“Name me, Jelly Roll’s biggest hit, Brian?”
Despite Cornette’s brutal takedown, WWE is going all in with Jelly Roll, officially booking him to team with Randy Orton against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul at SummerSlam.
