Jim Cornette says he’s had enough of AEW Dynamite and isn’t planning to keep watching the show anymore after growing tired of what he sees every week.
While talking on his podcast, Cornette explained that the weekly format has worn him down because he feels the show keeps repeating the same ideas and matchups. He made it clear that his patience finally ran out after watching what he believes has become a predictable product.
“Life is too short for me to sit here and watch these same people do the same things every week in the same kind of matches with the same kind of people.”
Cornette then took things even further, saying that only something shocking or completely unexpected would make him tune back in. He used an over-the-top example to show just how frustrated he is with the current direction of the show.
“So unless somebody either does something spectacularly fantastic and newsworthy or has projectile diarrhea on their opponent in the middle of the ring on live TV, just assume that everything that I've said going forward about AEW Dynamite is the same every week and will save us both some time.”
After laying out his complaints, Cornette was asked directly if he had actually quit watching Dynamite. He didn’t hesitate when answering and made it clear that, for now, he’s finished unless something changes his mind.
“I am. Unless you and/or the listeners talk me out of it for some goddamn reason. And I'm not sure I'm in the mood for hearing any counterarguments.”
Cornette has criticized AEW many times before, but this time he made it clear that he’s stepping away from Dynamite completely. Whether he sticks to that decision could depend on what happens on the show in the coming weeks. Cornette walking away from Dynamite adds another loud voice to the ongoing debate about AEW’s weekly shows and whether the company needs to shake things up.
