Je’von Evans has already shared the ring with some of WWE’s biggest names, but one match stands out as the moment he realized how serious things were getting — facing Randy Orton.

While speaking with Bootleg Kev, Evans reflected on stepping into the ring with Orton in NXT. The discussion centered around how rare it is for Orton to work with younger talent, especially in his hometown, making the opportunity feel like a massive test of trust from WWE. Evans made it clear that moment meant everything to him and showed how quickly the company believed in his potential.

“Bro, it was wild, dog. I feel like it was a very big test for me, you know what I mean? I think that was my first like major test going into NXT. I think at the time, bro, I think I was in NXT maybe almost a year. Or either close to a year or we just hit a year. And they gave me an opportunity to go against Randy Orton in his hometown, which is insane… so bro, it was an honor, bro. I'm so blessed that I had that opportunity and so grateful that I got to learn under Randy.”

Evans also noted that the experience didn’t just end when the match was over. He described building a connection with Orton afterward, suggesting the veteran left a lasting impression both inside and outside the ring.

Getting that kind of spotlight so early in his career is something most wrestlers wait years for. For Je’von Evans, it became a defining moment that showed WWE was willing to put him in serious situations against top-tier talent.

Do you think facing Randy Orton so early helped accelerate Je’von Evans’ rise in WWE? Should WWE continue putting him in the ring with top veterans? Share your thoughts and leave your feedback.
