WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is set to be a historic show on December 13. John Cena will wrestle in his final match, and everyone will have their eyes on that encounter with GUNTHER. A WWE Hall of Famer who hasn’t always seen eye-to-eye with the company will also be back for the event.

WrestleVotes reports that after missing the last Saturday Night’s Main Event, Jesse “The Body” Ventura is set for Washington, D.C. this weekend for John Cena’s final match. As previously noted, this will not be a “tribute show,” because that’s not what Cena wanted.

Jesse Ventura and WWE have a long history. He first worked for the World Wrestling Federation as a wrestler and then moved into the commentary booth. He teamed with Vince McMahon and Gorilla Monsoon on major shows and on Saturday Night’s Main Event in the 80s, so his return to this show has historical value.

Ventura left the company in 1990 after a contract dispute. In 1991, he filed a lawsuit against Titan Sports over videotape royalties. A federal jury awarded him more than reportedly around $800k in royalties and additional money in back pay.

During that case, Jesse Ventura also learned that Hulk Hogan ratted to McMahon about his attempt to start a union in 1986. Ventura later said this ended his friendship with Hogan. He has also said he has no relationship with McMahon today.

Despite the turbulent history, Jesse Ventura returned to WWE programming for their Saturday Night’s Main Event specials. The WWE Hall of Famer also saw his induction in 2004, which was long overdue.

We will have to wait and see what The Body says on Saturday Night’s Main Event this time around. He’s always good for a sound bite or two, and a lot of fans will be watching that special event.
