Jelly Roll and Randy Orton ended up losing to Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam last week. Fans were surprised Roll lost in his in-ring debut and now the singer has revealed he actually told Triple H he wanted to lose.
While speaking on “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” with Cody Rhodes, Jelly Roll revealed he told Triple H that he wanted to lose at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event.
The singer explained that celebrities usually never lose and are always made to look good, but if he didn’t win, it gave him a reason to come back. He said there would always be something left open, and he could return at any time.
“I’ll tell you this. I told Triple H I wanna lose at SummerSlam. Just ’cause he knows celebrities never took an L — they always put them over. And if you don’t put me over, always have a reason to come back. There’s always just something lingering there. I could pop up anytime.”
This comes after we had reported that throughout much of the week leading to SummerSlam, the plan was for Jelly Roll and Randy Orton to win their match. But that changed right before the show. Not just that, Joe Tessitore even confirmed that Jelly Roll wants to come back to WWE in the future, so we’ll see him again in the future.
Jelly Roll’s decision to lose at SummerSlam goes against what most celebrities usually do and shows how much he respects pro wrestling and its storytelling. It’s clear he has a great mind for the business, so we’ll have to see when the singer will return to WWE television for another program.
