Jeff Jarrett isn’t calling it quits just yet. After nearly 40 years in the wrestling business and over 2,000 matches under his belt, “The Last Outlaw” is looking to make one final statement in the ring—by winning the AEW World Championship.

Jarrett made it clear during his appearance on The Bobby Bones Show that retirement isn’t on his mind just yet, but he knows his days inside the ropes are numbered. The veteran wrestler admitted that at 57, he feels the grind of his sporadic in-ring schedule more than ever.

“This may sound crazy at 57 years of age, I wish I could wrestle more because wrestling every three weeks or once a month, I know for the next 48-72 hours, and I’m all into the recovery and the cryo(therapy) and saunas, and all that stuff, but there is something about the lactic acid build-up. It’s rough. I hate to admit it, but it is really rough.”

Despite the toll on his body, Jarrett isn’t looking to fade away. Instead, he’s setting his sights on one last run at championship gold, making it clear he wants to go out on top.

“I’m not riding off into the sunset. I’ll be around professional wrestling. As far as an in-ring career, I just made up my mind, ‘This is it.’ I think I’ve also incentivized myself because I want one last shot at gold. I want to go out with a bang, somehow, someway, and then be done with it, but I’m not ready to be done with it, at all.”

Jarrett had a tense face-to-face moment with former AEW World Champion MJF on Dynamite Maximum Carnage, which could be the start of something big for his final ride. Whether or not he gets that one last shot at the AEW World Title remains to be seen, but he’s making it clear—he’s not leaving quietly.
