AJ Styles may have lost with his career on the line at Royal Rumble, but Jeff Jarrett isn’t buying the idea that it’s the end of the road.
Speaking on his My World podcast, Jeff Jarrett made it clear he believes AJ Styles will wrestle again, even if it takes time. Jarrett cautioned fans not to take the stipulation at face value and suggested Styles’ value has only increased since the match.
“We have not seen the last of AJ Styles in the ring. Look, it may be a year, it may be two years, I don’t know,” Jarrett said.
Jarrett then framed it in business terms, arguing that Styles’ standing in the industry has gone up, not down, following the loss.
“I think AJ’s stock, if he’s on the ticker, over the last week or two has risen. Would you buy AJ stock right now?” Jarrett asked.
Co-host Conrad Thompson didn’t hesitate.
“If we were giving stock recommendations, I would give it a buy, that’s for sure.”
Jarrett also revisited Styles’ loss to Gunther, comparing it to other recent career-themed matches. While he praised how the result elevated Gunther, Jarrett still wasn’t convinced the stipulation meant permanent retirement.
“Out of Goldberg, Cena, and AJ, out of those three, I thought Gunther built more equity in the Gunther character by beating AJ than the others by far. That was well done. But no, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of it. The taking off the gloves and all that stuff, it’s curious.”
Between Jarrett’s confidence, D’Amore’s skepticism, and the way WWE framed the match, the door appears far from closed on AJ Styles’ in-ring future. Retirement angle or not, this may end up being just another pause before one last run.
