Jeff Hardy’s legendary career has made him one of the most recognizable names in professional wrestling, but don’t expect his kids to follow in his high-flying footsteps.
While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE Champion opened up about his daughters’ potential future in wrestling—or lack thereof.
“My daughters, before WWE even introduced the Women’s Tag Team Championships, I was like, ‘Man, I have the Hardy girls. They might be the first women’s tag team, and they can literally be the Hardy girls,’” Hardy explained. “Soon after that thought, WWE came out with the Women’s Tag Team Championships, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, it must be meant to be.’”
However, Hardy quickly realized his dream of seeing his daughters carry on the family legacy wasn’t going to happen. “They don’t have any interest in it whatsoever,” he admitted.
Despite their lack of enthusiasm, Hardy hasn’t entirely ruled out training them if they ever change their minds. “Even my oldest daughter, Ruby, she’s so creative and beautiful and grown up. She’s mentioned maybe wanting to get in the ring and try some stuff,” he said. “If she ever gets serious about it, of course—her and my youngest daughter would probably be the only people I’d ever train. I say that now, but I’d just want to share some secrets that helped me along the way.”
For now, though, Hardy says the idea of the “Hardy Girls” carrying on his legacy in the ring is unlikely. “Everything now, it doesn’t seem like the Hardy girls are going to be a thing in the pro wrestling future.”
Jeff Hardy’s in-ring style inspired an entire generation, but his daughters are carving their own path outside of wrestling. What do you think about his kids deciding not to step into the squared circle? Would you have wanted to see the next generation of Hardys in WWE or AEW? Let us know in the comments!
