Jeff Hardy is still banged up—but according to Matt Hardy, he’s making progress and taking a careful, natural approach to recovery.

On the January 16, 2026 episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt gave fans a real update on his brother’s condition following Jeff’s revealing that he’s been working through two bulging discs in his neck.

While Jeff continues to perform in TNA—including an upcoming TNA Tag Team Title defense against The Righteous at Genesis—Matt confirmed the healing process is still ongoing: “He’s feeling better. It’s a very slow process.”

Matt explained that the Hardys are actively consulting with medical professionals to find the best way to ease Jeff’s pain without immediately jumping to surgery. He noted that someone with specialized experience will be evaluating Jeff’s condition soon.

“We’re going to talk with some of the doctors, and there’s a special person coming in about whether they can manipulate it… maybe what the best thing is they can do to try and ease the pain.”

The good news? The discs haven’t worsened and may even be improving. Matt also talked about other wrestlers who have undergone minor procedures—such as shaving down disc tissue—and returned to the ring in good shape. But Jeff, he said, wants to avoid anything invasive if possible.

“They’re not protruding too badly and they have gotten better, and he’s been doing the things that he can do.” He would rather do it as naturally and as organically as possible.”

Looking ahead, Matt sees this experience as a turning point in Jeff’s approach to wrestling. Rather than pushing through recklessly, Jeff is learning to adapt and work smarter.

“Jeff even having this and being a little freaked out by it is going to turn him into a smarter worker, which isn’t a bad thing at his age.”

Jeff Hardy isn’t 100%, but he’s not backing down either. With help from doctors, family, and a smarter mindset, the Charismatic Enigma is finding ways to keep moving forward—without putting his long-term health at risk.

Do you think Jeff Hardy should keep wrestling through this, or is it time to consider stepping back? Let us know where you stand.
