Jeff Hardy parted ways with AEW back in June 2024 after his contract expired and he made his way to TNA Wrestling. Many fans felt his AEW run could’ve been much better and now Hardy has admitted his own fault in how his AEW run turned out.
While speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Jeff Hardy was asked what went wrong with his AEW run. He admitted it came down to his own personal problems, mainly getting into trouble with the law.
Hardy felt he never got a fair chance to redeem himself, but also completely understood why AEW didn’t want to give him that opportunity; they couldn’t trust him, and he became a liability.
Jeff Hardy said he told himself all kinds of terrible things about getting arrested again, which filled him with guilt and shame. As a result, he kept beating himself up over it and believes they never really got a fair chance because of his mistakes, something he continues to blame himself for.
“Honestly, it’s my personal problems — naturally getting in trouble with the law. I never got a fair chance to redeem myself, at least that’s how it felt. Then I totally understood why they didn’t wanna give me that chance, like, ‘Oh god, they can’t trust me. I’m a liability.’ I was telling myself all these terrible things about getting what I got and getting arrested again, and it’s just so much guilt and shame in that. So naturally I beat myself up over it, but I just don’t think we got a fair chance because of that, and I blame myself all the time.”
The Charismatic Enigma made headlines for all the wrong reasons after he was arrested for driving under the influence after leaving a Florida Dave & Busters, where he had a concert that night back in 2022 and this was his third DUI arrest in a decade as well.
Regardless, it’s clear Jeff Hardy still feels bad about what happened in AEW but he is now thriving in TNA Wrestling and is more focused on that. While fans still wish he had done better in AEW, what’s done is done and everyone has moved on now.
