Jazmyn Nyx addressed why she decided to walk away from WWE, and it all came down to one thing—money. The former NXT star opened up about her struggles with pay and the rising cost of living, explaining that the company’s lack of proper raises made it impossible for her to stay.
During an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Nyx explained that even though she loved wrestling, the financial side of the job became unsustainable.
“In terms of cost of living and things like that, there’s nothing you can really say — cost of living goes up every year. You have to make a living. If you don’t get a raise, you’re basically losing money. That’s how I looked at it. I just felt like, at the time, I had to make the decision for myself.”
Nyx went on to detail just how expensive it was to be a WWE Superstar, especially as a woman constantly appearing on television. Between gear, makeup, and travel, she said it often felt like she was losing money instead of earning it.
“Yes, it was a struggle. It felt like I was losing money instead of gaining. I was already paying my own rent, being an independent woman trying to handle everything. You pay for gear, you pay for makeup — for women, there are a lot more expenses, especially in WWE. New outfits every week, being on TV every Tuesday — it was constant, back-to-back costs that I felt weren’t being covered.”
Her decision wasn’t about attitude or ego—it was about fairness and survival. Nyx said she reached a point where staying loyal to the brand meant compromising her own stability, and that wasn’t a sacrifice she was willing to make anymore.
Jazmyn Nyx’s story shines a light on an issue many wrestlers face behind the scenes: the financial pressure of maintaining their image without fair pay. For Nyx, walking away wasn’t giving up—it was standing up for herself.
