AEW’s plans for Jay White just took another major hit—and this time, it might keep the Switchblade out for the rest of the year.

According to a new update from Fightful Select on July 25, 2025, White is now also dealing with a shoulder injury on top of the hand injury that has already kept him out of action since March.

Sources claim White may miss more time than expected and those within AEW haven’t heard anything suggesting he’s close to a return. In fact, the opposite is true—some in the company said White had been weighing whether to undergo shoulder surgery. While no final decision has been confirmed, it was indicated that “it’s possible he’d miss the rest of the year” if he goes through with it.

White has already been off television for months after injuring his hand in a match against Kevin Knight on March 29. That injury pulled him out of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and scrapped AEW’s reported plans for a major match against Will Ospreay at Dynasty.

To make things worse, White hasn’t been seen at recent AEW tapings, adding even more uncertainty to his return timeline. Fightful also pointed out the broader struggles of the Bang Bang Gang, noting they “haven’t all been healthy at the same time for quite some time.” Juice Robinson only recently came back after a seven-month absence, and Colten Gunn was sidelined shortly after.

Jay White previously missed time in the summer of 2024, and now his 2025 is shaping up to be another injury-riddled year. With AEW forced to pivot multiple creative plans around his absence, it’s clear his return—whenever it happens—will be under heavy scrutiny.
