Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina was a full house for the January 1 episode of AEW Dynamite. This episode was Fight For The Fallen, and it also saw the fallout after AEW Worlds End. That being said, AEW needed to continue stacking their future shows.
During this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, a 3-Way Match determined the #1 spot in the Casino Gauntlet. The match kicked off the second hour of the show this week.
The match featured Swerve Strickland, The Undisputed Kingdom’s Roderick Strong, and Bang Bang Gang’s “Switchblade” Jay White competing for the top position. This match had fans attention in a big way as the three collided in the ring.
The Casino Gauntlet match will take place next week. In two weeks, Jon Moxley will defend his title against the winner of the Casino Gauntlet match next week.
This match was evenly matches, as everyone traded moves. Then they fought through a commercial break. Swerve Strickland had some chants for him as he maintained control over Jay White, but then Ricochet showed up out of the crowd before he nailed him with a golden paid of scissors. That busted Swerve open as he laid on the flood.
It wasn’t long after that when Switchblade Jay White got in the ring and got the pinfall on Roderick Strong. That puts White in a great position to get a possible shot at Jon Moxley’s title. After the match, Ricochet continued his assault on a bloody Swerve Strickland.
