Janel Grant is sharing a deeply personal and alarming moment from her past, revealing that she nearly took her own life in the immediate aftermath of the controversy tied to WWE, Vince McMahon, and a non-disclosure agreement.

Speaking publicly about the situation, Grant detailed how everything unraveled the day she was informed a Wall Street Journal story involving her was about to go live. She said the call came at the worst possible time — in front of colleagues at a new job — and what followed only made things worse.

Grant explained that she was instructed not to speak, not to respond, and not to acknowledge anything about the situation, even as it became public. That level of silence, she says, created an overwhelming emotional collapse. She described the feeling as if her life was being destroyed while she was still inside it, with no ability to react or defend herself.

“I was told if anybody asks me about this, I can’t make a comment. I can’t acknowledge it. I can’t say I’m not okay. And if anybody approaches me, I can’t acknowledge years of life to people who saw me live it.”

“And it was like somebody set fire to my home intentionally with me still inside of it.”

From there, Grant revealed just how serious the situation became, describing a moment where she lost control entirely.

“So I blacked out and I ended up in a closet with a belt and a stool placed under a little rod. And thank God somebody saw me and stopped it. But that is the life wreck and the mental health impact of this particular NDA.”

Grant’s account paints a picture of a breaking point, where the combination of public exposure and enforced silence pushed her into a life-threatening situation. She made it clear that she believes the NDA and the circumstances surrounding it played a direct role in that moment.

This revelation adds to the ongoing legal battle involving WWE and Vince McMahon, while also shining a light on the real-world impact these situations can have beyond courtrooms and headlines.

Grant’s willingness to speak about such a traumatic experience signals just how serious she believes the issue is — and why she continues to push forward despite everything she says she has endured.
