Jamie Hayter is done with the body shaming—and she’s making it clear she doesn’t need six-pack abs to dominate the ring.

During an interview with Yahoo! Sports’ Cameron Hawkins for Uncrowned, the AEW star got real about body image, online criticism, and why performance—not appearance—is what really counts in wrestling.

Hayter shut down the idea that every wrestler should be chasing a shredded look, and said she’s proud of how she trains—and how she looks.

“I like to have a bit of meat on my bones, to be honest,” Hayter said. “I like to be a bit more stockier. I don’t really care about having abs so much. I just like to be a bit big. As big as I physically can.”

That strength-focused mentality, she explained, is what makes wrestling beautiful—it welcomes everyone.

“That’s the wonderful thing about wrestling, isn’t it? It really is for anybody. I don’t really think it necessarily matters your body size or shape. I think if you can go in the ring, you go in the ring. Let that do the speaking for you.”

Hayter knows people will always have something to say about how wrestlers look—but she’s not letting it get to her.

“There’ll be plenty of naysayers that will be like, ‘Well, I actually think this about this body type, or I don’t think they should look like this and that.’ But it’s just like, ‘Well, f** them.’ That’s what I say. Let your in-ring do the talking.”*

Her stance on authenticity has also fueled her updated look since returning at AEW All In last August. While some fans online compared her new style to Becky Lynch—dubbing her “Temu Becky Lynch”—Hayter has stayed focused on expressing her true self. In a separate interview with Undisputed, she opened up about what’s actually behind the change.

“I know it was jarring at first because I looked so different — but this is me,” Hayter said. “I’m bringing myself more into my wrestling. My favorite band is The Doors. When I was hurt, listening to their music would cheer me up and get me pumped. I’m really into 60s, 70s psychedelic rock. I love Kate Bush. Music makes me feel good.”

Whether it’s her body, her style, or her mindset—Jamie Hayter isn’t here to fit a mold. She’s here to fight.
