Jake Hager has closed the door on pro wrestling—or so it seems.
During a new episode of Rule Breakers with Saraya, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and AEW star revealed that he’s officially retired from the ring. But when the topic of a WWE return came up, he let slip the one condition that could bring him back.
The conversation had already touched on Hager’s new business venture—a trucking company called Hauling Oats based out of Tampa, Florida. He told Saraya that stepping away from wrestling gave him the chance to start fresh and focus on a new chapter.
Still, Saraya had to ask the question everyone was thinking. In a playful but direct tone, she looked across at Hager and asked if he would ever go back to WWE if they made the call. Hager didn’t hesitate at first. He made it sound like the door was closed for good.
“No. No. I’m really like stuck in that I’m retiring.”
But then he smirked, leaned back, and delivered a line that turned the whole vibe around:
“Wrestlers don’t really retire. That’s why I’m saying that—I’m just driving up the price right now.”
Saraya laughed and called him out for the move, saying, “You just want to be as valuable as possible.” Hager agreed without missing a beat: “Exactly.”
So while Jake Hager may be out of the game for now, he’s not completely unreachable. The money would have to be right, but like most wrestlers, retirement might only be temporary if the offer lands at the right number.
