Jake Doyle suffered a torn bicep injury during the January 28, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite, just weeks after making his debut for the company.
The injury took place during the AEW World Tag Team Championship match, where Doyle teamed with Mark Davis to take on FTR. Midway through the bout, Doyle appeared to hurt himself while taking an apron DDT from Cash Wheeler. While holding onto the top rope during the landing, the pressure led to the bicep tear. Doyle was audibly heard calling out the injury.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer confirmed the injury, noting that Doyle had sustained a torn bicep during the match. Afterwards, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful added more detail during his post-Dynamite show, noting that Doyle was clearly removed from the closing stretch of the match:
“Get well, Doyle. Jake Doyle said he tore his biceps, and you could tell he wasn’t involved at all in the end of the match. Unfortunately, that’s the situation here—Jake Doyle tearing his bicep.”
Doyle signed with AEW earlier this month and was immediately slotted into the Don Callis Family with Mark Davis. The torn bicep could sideline him for anywhere from three to six months, depending on the severity and required treatment.
It’s a tough break for Doyle just as his AEW run was getting started. Whether this impacts long-term plans for the Don Callis Family remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain—this wasn’t the outcome Doyle or AEW expected.
Should AEW keep Doyle on TV in a non-wrestling role while he recovers? Or is it better to wait for a full comeback? Let us know your thoughts and well wishes below.
