Jacob Fatu signed with WWE last year and he has been an absolute force of nature since debuting on the June 21st episode of SmackDown. Despite his current success, Fatu has now admitted that he would have been fired had he joined WWE five years ago.
While speaking to the Toronto Sun, Jacob Fatu talked about joining WWE and said it feels very different now in a good way. Some people told him he should have joined five years ago, but Fatu knows he wasn’t ready back then. Fatu believes that if he had come in earlier, he might have been fired by WWE.
“So, man, it’s just a whole different vibe over there, you know? And I always say this—people tell me, ‘Jacob, you should’ve been here five years ago.’ No, no, no. Jacob wasn’t ready five years ago, okay? I’m just being real. If I came in back then, I probably would’ve gotten fired.”
The Samoan Werewolf believes the timing was just right. When the Bloodline storyline started to slow down, it wasn’t clear what would happen next. As a fan, he was still excited.
Then things came together with Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, then himself, and now JC Mateo everything just worked out. He made it clear he is really happy to be in WWE now and proud to be part of what’s going on.
“The timing was perfect. When the Bloodline story slowed down, it was like, man, where do we go from here? As a fan, I was excited, but just how everything played out—Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, then me, now JC’s there too—it’s all come full circle. I’m just really happy to be here, man. I’m proud to be part of WWE right now.”
Jacob Fatu is currently the United States Champion and has been on an absolute roll since then, so fans are just happy that Fatu came to WWE last year instead of rushing it. After all, he really could have been fired five years ago, since WWE was under the Vince McMahon regime back then.
