Jackie Redmond has interviewed some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, but even she wasn’t ready for what CM Punk threw at her on live television.
While speaking to Front Office Sports about juggling her dual roles with TNT’s NHL coverage and WWE programming, Redmond was asked if she’s ever broken character during a WWE segment. Without hesitation, she pointed to a moment that involved Punk catching her completely off guard in front of a live crowd.
“Multiple times. I don’t know if that’s good or not,” Redmond admitted, before trying to recall a moment with Judgment Day’s original lineup of Edge, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley. But then she quickly pivoted to the one that really stuck with her.
“The one that really stands out to me, where I broke, forgot what my role was, and was truly just reacting as close to the real Jackie Redmond that there is, I was interviewing CM Punk in front of a crowd. He said something that I truly didn’t expect. I won’t get into the details of what was said, but you could see the shock on my face.”
She made it clear the reaction wasn’t scripted—she genuinely didn’t see it coming.
“That was not a planned reaction. I didn’t know what he was gonna say. He dropped the mic, as he often does, and I was very entertained in the moment and also very surprised. I think you could see it on my face because the internet let me know that you could see it on my face. I definitely broke in that moment.”
CM Punk has made a career out of putting people on the spot, and Redmond now knows firsthand what it’s like to be caught in one of his signature unscripted moments.
She didn’t specify which promo it was, but based on her priceless reaction, it might have been the moment when Punk called Hulk Hogan a “bald fraud.” While not confirmed, the shock on her face during that segment matches how she described the experience.
