Jack Perry is banged up—but he’s not backing down.
Following his win over “Speedball” Mike Bailey on AEW Collision: Holiday Bash, Perry gave a brutally honest update on his condition. Nursing a lingering ankle injury reportedly sustained during a suicide dive against Kazuchika Okada the week prior, the “Scapegoat” still powered through to pick up his first points in the Continental Classic Gold League.
Speaking after the match, Perry didn’t sugarcoat what he was dealing with.
“My ankle feels like sht, my mouth tastes like Speedball’s toes,”* he said. “But all in all, I’m pretty damn happy because I am finally on the board in the Continental Classic.”
The win gives Perry 3 points, keeping him alive in the tournament. But with PAC and Kyle Fletcher still on his schedule, the road to Worlds End isn’t getting any easier. Still, Perry isn’t counting himself out just yet.
“That was three points right there, I got two more matches: PAC and Kyle Fletcher, and these guys are animals, but one way or another, I think I might just find a way to take this whole thing home.”
Sources indicate Perry is fine and that the injury scare may now be part of a working storyline, but with the final set for December 27 in Orlando, he’ll need to win out and pray for favorable results elsewhere in order to advance.
