WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event is set to be a massive show on December 13. The days are ticking down for John Cena’s last match, but he doesn’t want the show to be a tribute. Instead, he promised to feature up-and-coming talents on the show. Leon Slater was booked in a big match, but that means he needed to cancel another appearance.
As you know, during the December 8 edition of WWE RAW, it was announced that Leon Slater will team with Je’Von Evans to face WWE World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee. Sadly, Slater won’t be doing a show for wXw in the process.
Sean Ross Sapp noted on Fightful Select that, before the match announcement, he contacted wXw regarding Slater’s withdrawal from their upcoming event. Sources within wXw reportedly said the withdrawal was attributed to scheduling issues, though the appearance had been set since March. The promotion had arranged dates around Slater’s TNA commitments and said he was “positive and helpful as usual” during his most recent wXw appearance.
After WWE announced Slater for Saturday Night’s Main Event, wXw sources reportedly said that the situation was “kind of what the promotion expected,” but they would have preferred notice from WWE due to the timing. The lack of communication put Slater in a difficult position as well.
It was also noted that they spoke with TNA sources, who supported Leon Slater taking the WWE booking and viewed it as another sign of the ongoing partnership between the two companies. RevPro was reportedly reached for comment but did not receive a response.
Leon Slater’s TNA Wrestling contract is set to expire in 2026. It will be very interesting to see where he lands when everything is said and done.
What’s your take on Leon Slater getting these spots in WWE at this point? Do you think he will leave TNA for WWE when his contract is up? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
