Giovanni Vinci was released from WWE during this latest run of roster cuts. Although we may hear more names down the line, we are now getting new details about the people that were cut so far.

Sean Ross Sapp noted on Fightful Select that there were some people in WWE who were behind Giovanni Vinci. However, his return to the company under a new repackaging wasn’t followed up on in any way.

The absence from Giovanni Vinci from WWE television then led many to assume that he was moved down the roster. He hasn’t competed on television in quite a while, either.

“There were some in the company that were high on Giovanni Vinci upon creating the vignettes for him last year. That didn’t end up conveying to TV, and most that we’ve spoken to believe he was pushed down the card with them knowing he wouldn’t be brought back.”

Giovanni Vinci was part of GUNTHER’s Imperium faction but was later removed. He was repackaged in NXT, but the character was changed again. After returning to his Imperium role, Ludwig Kaiser, with GUNTHER’s approval, removed him from the group. A new character was introduced, but he was soon taken off television.

Giovanni Vinci’s release came just after Isla Dawn confirmed her release from WWE. This added her name to a growing list that already includes:

  • Akam & Rezar (AOP)
  • Paul Ellering
  • Cedric Alexander
  • Sonya Deville
  • Blair Davenport
  • Isla Dawn
  • The Good Brothers
