Indi Hartwell isn’t wasting any time getting back in the ring. After her WWE release, fans wondered where she would land next, and now Renegades of Wrestling has confirmed her first post-WWE match.
On February 16, the promotion took to social media to announce that Hartwell will return to Melbourne for the first time in six years to challenge Aysha for the Renegades of Wrestling Women’s Championship at We Are Renegades on March 9 at the Northcote Theatre.
“It’s official! @indihartwell returns to Melbourne for the first time in six years, where she will face @aysha.fc_ for the Renegades of Wrestling Women’s Championship! This marks a fresh start for Hartwell, who recently revealed that WWE never had solid plans for her main roster run. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, she admitted she always had a fear of being released, and just when she started to feel confident, WWE cut her.
“When I got called up, I think there were talks to put The Way back together, but slowly, every week, our segment would get cut or moved to Raw Talk, and then eventually, it would just get cut completely. Sometimes, I would get a call saying I wasn’t needed for TV that week, so I wouldn’t be traveling. That’s when I really started to get scared, thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going to get released.’
I always had that fear in the back of my mind—not that I was manifesting it, but I was always worried about it. It wasn’t until maybe my last two weeks in WWE that I finally felt comfortable and confident, thinking, ‘Oh yeah, I’m good now.’ And then that’s when it happened. So, as for plans, I never really heard anything.”
While Hartwell has expressed confidence in returning to WWE someday, her focus is now on rebuilding her career, and stepping into the title scene at Renegades of Wrestling is a major first step.
