Indi Hartwell had a memorable run in NXT but her main roster run was the complete opposite, eventually leading to her WWE release last year. In fact, Hartwell considered quitting professional wrestling after her WWE release.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Indi Hartwell admitted that she considered quitting wrestling after her WWE release. She said that on the night she was let go, Bayley called her and mentioned that she could now have her dream match with Mercedes Mone.

At the time, Hartwell wasn’t even sure if she wanted to keep wrestling. Eventually, she realized she was only 28 and still had so much more to accomplish, so she focused on getting her mindset right. She admitted how uncertain things felt, stating she didn’t even know what she would have done if she had actually walked away from wrestling.

“First of all, I had to think like, do I even wanna keep on wrestling? I remember the night I got released, Bayley called me, she’s like, ‘Oh, now you can have your dream match with Mercedes.’ And I was like, ‘Dude, I don’t even know if I wanna wrestle.’ But then I snapped out of it. I’m only 28, so I feel like I have so much more to do in wrestling, so I had to get my brain right. It’s kind of crazy. I didn’t know what I would have done had I quit.”

When asked why she thought about stopping, Hartwell explained it wasn’t because of the release itself. It was more about the previous year or two, where she hadn’t been given much to do. That experience slowly chipped away at her passion, love for the business, and most of all, her confidence. She said rebuilding that confidence and remembering who she was became her main focus.

“Not hurt from being released. I think like maybe the past year or two of not getting to do much, it kind of rips away your enthusiasm for it, or love and confidence. Especially confidence, that was the main thing for me. I had to get my confidence back up and remember who I was.”

Thankfully, Indi Hartwell didn’t quit professional wrestling as she has killed it in the independent scene and is now signed to TNA Wrestling. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see how she will fare in TNA in the coming weeks, as fans only want the best for her.
