Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jessica McKay and Cassie Lee might be gearing up for a big-time comeback—and AEW could be their next destination.
Known to WWE fans as The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce), the duo later rebranded as The IInspiration after their WWE departure. Their most recent run in TNA Wrestling saw them hold the Knockouts Tag Team Championships before officially wrapping up their time with the promotion last month. Their final appearance aired on TNA’s AMC debut, where they dropped the titles to The Elegance Brand.
Now, AEW might be making a move. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shared that AEW interest in the pair has been circulating for a while.
“We’ve heard a lot of talk of The IInspiration (Jessica McKay & Cassie Lee) coming in, really ever since they left TNA for another opportunity right after losing their tag titles to The Elegance Brand on the AMC debut show on 1/15.”
While no deal has been confirmed yet, the backstage conversations suggest AEW is strongly considering adding the iconic duo to their women’s division.
McKay and Lee rose to fame during their WWE run as The IIconics, becoming the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 35. Since then, they’ve built a loyal fanbase through their work across multiple promotions, podcasts, and social media.
If AEW does pull the trigger, the women’s division could be in for a major shake-up.
Could The IInspiration bring their star power to AEW and reclaim tag team gold? Only time will tell.
