The August 8th edition of WWE SmackDown featured the debut of a new referee during Charlotte Flair vs. Chelsea Green and now the identity of that referee has finally been revealed.
During the show, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced that a new referee would officiate the match between Flair and Green. That referee is none other than Gary Wilson, who has been a referee in NXT since 2022. This week was Wilson’s official debut on the main roster as part of the blue brand.
As for Charlotte Flair, she squared off against Chelsea Green and easily managed to defeat the former Women’s United States Champion. To add insult to injury, Green’s face got covered in cake right after the match.
Gary Wilson has gone from being a referee in NXT to making his first appearance as a referee on SmackDown. This is a big step in Wilson’s career and so we’ll have to wait and see how he will continue to fare as a main roster referee from now on.
