Hulk Hogan’s health became the subject of rampant speculation in mid-June when serious claims surfaced suggesting the WWE legend was in critical condition following neck surgery. It all stemmed from comments made by Bubba the Love Sponge, who claimed Hogan was “not in good shape” and that calls were going out to family members to come say their goodbyes.

“I got some pretty reliable information… there are phone calls being made to various family members about getting to town to come say their goodbyes,” Bubba said on air. “My sources say it’s complications from that [neck fusion surgery].”

Bubba also pointed to Hogan’s public appearances shortly after surgery, saying they worsened the situation. “He had no business being out and about,” he added.

But Hogan’s camp quickly pushed back. TMZ Sports reported that while Hogan had indeed been hospitalized, it was only to treat long-standing neck and back issues. A rep confirmed:

“Hulk Hogan is NOT on his last legs… he’s just dealing with more of the same ailments he’s had for years. In fact… Hogan’s back to moving around already.”

Weeks passed without any direct statement from Hogan or his wife, Sky Daily. Then, on July 11, nearly a month after the initial noise, Sky took to Instagram Stories to finally speak up. Responding to a comment asking if Hogan was really in a coma and dying, she wrote:

“No, he’s definitely not in a coma! His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage… none of those rumors are true.”

She explained that Hogan had undergone a serious four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF)—a procedure that also impacted his vocal cords and required eating and breathing tubes during recovery.

“We’ve been in and out of the hospital to support that recovery… So truly, there’s no need for the drama or panic some people try to stir up. He’s healing, and we’re taking it one day at a time with love, strength, and patience.”

So while Hogan’s recovery has been serious, the deathbed claims were completely off-base. He’s recovering at his own pace, surrounded by support, and in far better shape than those early reports suggested.
