The highly anticipated docuseries “Who Killed WCW?” made its debut on VICE on June 4, offering a deep dive into the tumultuous history of WCW. Produced by The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions, the four-part series features interviews with numerous figures from WCW’s storied past. However, one notable absence from the lineup is Hulk Hogan.

Brian Gewirtz, speaking on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, revealed that efforts were made to include Hogan in the documentary, but ultimately, he declined to participate. Despite his absence, Gewirtz assured fans that Hogan’s perspective is still reflected in the series through his close relationship with Eric Bischoff, who provides insights into Hogan’s role in key moments such as his signing with WCW, the infamous heel turn, and pivotal matches and events.

While the reasons for Hogan’s decision to not participate remain unclear, Gewirtz speculated that Hogan may have been hesitant to collaborate with VICE due to their previous documentary, “The Nine Lives of Hulk Hogan.” Nevertheless, Hogan’s impact on WCW’s trajectory, from its ascent to new heights in the mid-90s to its eventual downfall, is undeniable.

“We did reach out to Hulk. He is not appearing in the documentary to talk. He couldn’t do it. We tried on both sides. It didn’t work out. His POV is pretty much…a lot of people have a lot of opinions on him and talk about him. Some positive, some negative. His POV is definitely represented on the show. Obviously, him and Eric are very close and Eric can speak to a lot of Hogan’s POV at the time, both in terms of signing him, the heel turn, the botched finished with Sting, the match with Goldberg, the Finger Poke of Doom, Bash at the Beach, all of that stuff it pretty well covered. He’s not physically talking on the show, but he’s definitely represented.”
