WWE is preparing a major tribute to honor Hulk Hogan following his death — and they’re pulling in big names to do it.
According to Fightful Select, WWE has already reached out to multiple legends and Hall of Famers to either attend SmackDown or film tribute packages for Hogan. Some are reportedly traveling to tonight’s show, with WWE sources stating “they are looking to honor Hogan heavily.”
The move comes as more heartbreaking details emerge about Hogan’s final days. As reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the 71-year-old icon had been in serious decline after undergoing neck surgery on May 14. Complications from that procedure left him intubated and battling renal failure, fluid overload, and severe COPD. One source said Hogan’s condition had worsened so significantly that doctors set up a full hospital unit inside his Clearwater home after determining there wasn’t much else they could do.
“Basically, what happened with Hulk was they took him out of the hospital and made a hospital in his house as there wasn’t much left they could do,” a source told Dave Meltzer.
In the final week of his life, Hogan reportedly lost the ability to speak. While one person close to the situation claimed it “wasn’t as bad as some were saying,” they also confirmed that things were far worse than what was publicly known.
Just weeks before his passing, Hogan’s wife Sky attempted to quiet rumors that he was in a coma, stating he was simply recovering and that his heart was “strong.” Unfortunately, that recovery never came. Emergency services were called to his home on the morning of July 24 for what was described as cardiac arrest. Hogan was transported from the residence on a stretcher and later pronounced dead.
As WWE prepares to pay tribute to the man who helped launch wrestling into the mainstream, Hogan’s fans continue to come to grips with the reality of his final days — far removed from the limelight he once thrived in.
