Hulk Hogan is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, and he is beloved by millions. Hulkamania helped change pro wrestling and bring it into the mainstream, but his recent appearances on WWE television have been met with boos. This is due to his political affiliations and past controversies, all of which have been extensively covered. Still, the Hulkster isn’t going to let that slow him down.
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have launched a new wrestling company called Real American Freestyle. The two appeared on the Ariel Helwani Show to promote the new venture. While he was there, Hogan also addressed something else.
Ariel Helwani pointed out that there is a sector of fans who are ride or die when it comes to Hulk Hogan. Then he asked Hogan how he feels about his relationship with the public.
“You know they’re still nipping at my heels. I can go out and get booed, the last time I was in LA I was Hollywood Hogan or The Rock can get booed in LA or John Cena can get booed in LA. But, when I get booed, there’s a whole different reaction to it media wise. For some reason, I’ve laid some kind of groundwork where people are interested in what I’m doing.”
“Some of them are a part of the team and as riding with the train to the station–that’s great. For all the haters and all the people who have a problem with me– I can’t fix that. All I can do is prove by my actions that I’m still in the game, I’m still pushing hard. I took a lot of time off– I’ve had a lot of surgeries. I’ve always loved the hunt and I wanna get abck in the game. It’s always been that way for me, because my entire career I had that top spot. During the 80s, I had that where everyone was trying to knock me off that top spot. I’ll trade that for being on the bottom of the pile. When you get booed, but you get 3.2 million engagement, I’ll take it.”
Hulk Hogan said that he felt that people boo the character that he portrays, but he also admitted that he gets cheered in other rooms. In the end, Hogan said it’s a “double-edged sword, it’s part of the character, it’s part of my personal life, it’s part of my professional life, it’s all of the above.”
We will have to see what is next for Hulk Hogan. It appears that he is involved in a company that may compete with WWE at this point. Only time will tell if this new Real American Freestyle company will end up giving Triple H and company a run for their money.
WWE fans certainly have their own opinions on a lot of things, and they’re not afraid to show how they feel. Hulk Hogan certainly knows that he is a controversial figure at this point, but he has also certainly found his base of fans who will continue to support him. Hopefully, those supporters will help his new company in the end.
