Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24, with the official cause of death listed as acute myocardial infarction — a heart attack. But according to Bubba the Love Sponge, the circumstances surrounding Hogan’s passing deserve a much closer look.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bubba questioned why no autopsy or toxicology test was performed on one of the most famous wrestlers in history. He claimed Hogan’s personal doctor, Gerald Joseph Fitzgerald Jr., was the only one to examine the situation, with the county medical examiner never even looking at the body.
Bubba pointed to Hogan’s official death certificate, which he said listed “Not Applicable” under the medical examiner case number — meaning there was no official medical examiner investigation.
“So his doctor—I think his doctor is Dr. Fitzgerald. Dr. Fitzgerald, yeah. He’s the one that did the investigation. They didn’t even, from what I can gather—because Dan, if you look at this—medical examiner case number: not applicable. Because the reason why, from my inside sources, is the medical examiner basically took Dr. Joseph Fitzgerald Jr.’s report, and that’s what they went with.”
He added that the certificate clearly names Dr. Fitzgerald as the certifying physician, with no involvement from a county medical examiner.
“Well, that’s the certifying physician—Gerald Fitzgerald. Says right above it: ‘Type of certifier: certifying physician.’ The medical examiner case? Not applicable.”
Bubba emphasized that his information came from a trusted source.
“I was told this by a very reputable reporter in town. This is not a family member. This is not an inside circle. This is not a valet. I was told by a very reputable reporter in town that the only person that investigated this—how he died—was Gerald Joseph Fitzgerald.”
He also pointed out the significance of the death certificate itself.
“And Dan, if you look at this—this is the State of Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics Certificate of Death. This is the end-all be-all when it comes to how Terry Bollea died. This is the document. Yes. And it—right here—the certifiable information, the person that certified his death was one person: Gerald Joseph Fitzgerald Jr.”
For Bubba, the lack of an autopsy for someone as wealthy, famous, and active as Hogan — worth $50 million, newly married, and undergoing rehab — is suspicious.
“He could have said ‘run over by a unicorn,’ and no one would have contested it. There’s no way to confirm. Had the medical examiner examined it and done his job as a medical examiner, it would have had a case number. Am I right?”
“If you’re that high-profile with that much money… you are the first person to step on up to an autopsy. No autopsy… no toxicology report. Nothing. You take Hulk Hogan… recovering… doing rehabilitative exercises when he died… worth $50 million… just married two years ago… and the medical examiner didn’t even touch him. That’s sketchy.”
This discussion comes after prior reports that Hogan’s health took a turn for the worse following his second neck surgery. Without an autopsy, toxicology report, or official medical examiner’s inspection, fans are left questioning whether the full story of Hogan’s death will ever be known.
