Jacy Jayne did the unthinkable and defeated Stephanie Vaquer for the NXT Women’s Title back in May. Now it turns out WWE actually went the extra mile to ensure the title win was kept a secret.
While speaking on The Collection podcast with Brad Gilmore, Jacy Jayne revealed that she only learned about winning the NXT Women’s Title from Stephanie Vaquer at the last minute.
Jayne said that on the Sunday night before the match, a writer casually mentioned she would be facing Vaquer for the title on Tuesday. When she arrived at the venue that day, she was told the match would end in a disqualification, not a title win.
It wasn’t until right before the doors opened that Jacy Jayne was informed she would actually win the NXT Women’s Championship, making the moment a complete surprise and leaving her shocked.
“Um, so I had no idea what was going on. Sunday night before I won the title, one of the writers very nonchalantly told me, ‘Oh, you have a match with Stephanie on Tuesday for the title.’ I was like, ‘Oh, okay, cool.’ Then when I got there that day, I wasn’t told I was winning — I was actually told it was going to be a DQ finish. But basically, right before the doors opened, they let me in on what was really happening. So it was all very surprising, last-minute, and I was shocked.”
Jacy Jayne’s currently a double champion since she also holds the TNA Knockouts Title, so it’s clear Jayne is on the absolute run of a lifetime and many fans feel she more than deserves the success she’s finally getting. So it remains to be seen whether she’ll end 2025 as a double champion when all is said and done.
