Stephanie McMahon was one of the most hated villains on WWE television, often stealing the show with her signature devastating slap—a move many WWE stars have faced in the past. She has now revealed how she first incorporated the slap into her character.
While speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Stephanie McMahon was asked when she incorporated her infamous slap. McMahon explained that when she became a heel character, she received advice from wrestlers who told her the slap needed to look strong and convincing.
They emphasized hitting the right spot without causing serious injury, such as bursting an eardrum, but still making it look good. Following this guidance, she incorporated the slap into her character, and it quickly became one of her most memorable moves.
“The slap? So it was when I became a character and a heel. I remember the advice that I was told, since all the boys told me, ‘You gotta lay it in, it’s gotta look good. Make sure you don’t pop anybody’s eardrum, you gotta hit ’em in a particular spot but hit ’em hard.’ So, that’s how the slap kinda started.”
Even Ronda Rousey suffered a concussion after getting slapped by Stephanie McMahon. Lilian Garcia also got injured because of McMahon’s slap, making it clear it remains one of the most devastating moves in WWE history. So we’ll have to see if McMahon will slap anyone again in the future.
