Kit Wilson is opening up about what really happened during his match with Matt Cardona on the January 2, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown—and it turns out, he didn’t walk away unscathed.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet in a new interview on January 27, Wilson explained that while he’s happy Cardona is back in WWE, his own experience in the ring that night left him legitimately hurt. According to Wilson, the match resulted in real facial damage—including bruises, a chipped tooth, and an unexpected trip to the dentist.

“Yeah… you’d think being good friends with the very slay Chelsea Green that maybe there was some kind of friendship there. Matt Cardona comes out — fantastic, I’m very excited. He messed my nose up.”

Wilson made it clear he wasn’t throwing blame—just laying out the facts. He pointed out the physical nature of the match and revealed that Cardona’s offense left marks that lasted for days.

“I don’t know if you can see it, I’ve got makeup here — this was a mess for two weeks. I had two big boot marks here, which are still faintly there. I chipped my tooth. I went to the dentist! I think it was the Broski Boot. It could’ve been anything.”

But the aftermath was when things took a strange—and painful—turn. Wilson recounted the moment he realized just how bad it was after rolling out of the ring.

“I rolled out of the ring and I had something in my mouth. I went to spit it out only to realize, ‘This is a tooth.’ I sent him the bill though — I found his email.”

The injury hasn’t stopped Wilson from staying active, either. Just two weeks later, on the January 16 episode of SmackDown, he ambushed Cardona after his loss to Trick Williams—throwing him into the steel steps in what many saw as the next chapter of their feud.

While Wilson didn’t accuse Cardona of carelessness, his comments confirm the damage was real. And now, with the rivalry getting more personal by the week, fans may be witnessing one of SmackDown’s most physical grudges develop in real time.
