John Cena spent time at the invite-only Hart Dungeon training sessions run by Natalya and TJ Wilson, but new details show the visit didn’t happen through some elaborate plan. Instead, it started with a simple message.

Wilson recently explained how the visit came together during a conversation with Dan Marston, revealing that Cena personally reached out ahead of time to ask if he could stop by one of their training sessions. According to Wilson, Cena contacted them about a week or two before the visit and asked if he could attend. Wilson made it clear that Cena didn’t need permission to show up.

“He had texted a week or two before and said he’d like to come by. I told him, ‘You’re John Cena, you can come any date you want.’”

The day of the visit quickly turned memorable. Wilson recalled arriving at the Dungeon only to discover that Cena had already beaten him there and was speaking with the trainees in the ring.

“He showed up early. I got there and he was already holding court in the ring.”

Wilson explained that Cena immediately opened the floor for questions and spent a significant amount of time answering everything the trainees asked. What was supposed to be a brief visit turned into a lengthy session that even caused Cena to run late for other plans.

“He came and he spoke and it was funny — he had dinner plans, so he came and he spoke and I think he ended up being late for dinner. I hope he didn’t get himself in too much trouble with Shay, his wife.”

The trainees continued asking questions long past the time Cena expected to leave, forcing him to eventually wrap things up. Wilson made it clear that Cena didn’t treat the appearance like a quick drop-in. Instead, he spent hours sharing advice and knowledge with the next generation of wrestlers.

“He opened the floor to questions and he answered every single question. The questions didn’t stop and he just kept answering them. Eventually he said, ‘Guys, I’m so sorry, I was supposed to leave 30 minutes ago, I have to go now. Last question.’”

“He was holding nothing back. He was pouring out everything he knew. It was incredible to have him there. John Cena is special. He’s one of one.”

The Hart Dungeon has quietly become one of wrestling’s most respected invite-only training environments, with Wilson and Natalya working directly with select wrestlers. Cena’s willingness to show up, answer questions, and spend hours with trainees only reinforced why many in the industry view him as one of wrestling’s most respected veterans.
