TNA Wrestling and WWE’s partnership has been a hot topic since May 2024, especially after Jordynne Grace’s appearance on NXT. After much speculation about the Hardys possibly heading to NXT, it was confirmed that they will appear on the February 25 episode. In fact, Matt Hardy has now revealed how their appearance came together.
While speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy explained how the Hardy Boyz’s upcoming appearance on NXT came together, revealing it was a last-minute decision. He talked about the growing partnership between TNA and NXT, as well as TNA and WWE, and believes it will continue to grow. He said the partnership has been good for both companies.
“This was a very last-minute thing. It’s very cool because everyone knows that TNA and NXT have this partnership right now—TNA and WWE. I think it’s going to continue to expand, but it has already been very beneficial for both TNA and NXT.”
Hardy mentioned that after Fraxiom showed up and officials saw them defend the titles against The Rascals, it probably got the attention of decision-makers. However, he made it clear that he doesn’t make those decisions.
“I feel like after Fraxiom showed up and they watched us defend the titles against The Rascals, the wheels started turning for the powers that be. I don’t know all the details—I’m still talent, brother! I’m not booking, I’m talent.”
Hardy also said their appearance on the February 18th edition of NXT, where they answered the challenge from No Catch Quarter Crew, was another last-minute choice. Hardy doesn’t know what will happen next but he hopes everything feels natural, real, and exciting.
“But I think there was some interest there. We’ll see. Even us popping up and responding to that challenge on NXT was a very last-minute decision. It’s going to be interesting and fun. I don’t know where this route is going, and I don’t want to know. Whatever we end up doing, I want it to be as natural, organic, and authentic as possible.”
Nevertheless, Matt and Jeff Hardy will be facing off against No Catch Quarter Crew on the February 25th edition of NXT, so we will have to wait and see how they will fare in their first WWE match in a long time. After all, it could definitely lead to a longstanding program with more top NXT tag teams.
