Brock Lesnar’s return at SummerSlam shocked the entire pro wrestling world, as he took out John Cena. Naturally, many wondered what Paul Heyman thought of Lesnar’s return and now Heyman has revealed when Lesnar’s return came together.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Paul Heyman explained that Brock Lesnar’s return came together very quickly, within just a couple of weeks. Heyman said he doesn’t pay attention to the criticism. From his perspective, anyone who was at MetLife Stadium saw how much the return meant to the audience.
The crowd was fired up to see Brock Lesnar come out and hit an F5 on John Cena. No one left the stadium disappointed. Fans were excited, and that’s what matters, the paying audience was happy.
“Uh, that happened real quick. That happened in a couple of weeks. That happened in a couple of weeks. I got tagged into it after the deal was done. He wasn’t going to come back on speculation. He is Brock Lesnar.
Nah, I don’t pay attention to the criticism. He’s here. If you were at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, you’d understand that return meant a lot to that audience. That audience was jacked to see Brock Lesnar come out and to see him F5 John Cena. Nobody left the stadium saying, ‘Oh god, they brought back Brock.’ People were nuts. That’s our paying audience, they were happy to see him.”
Paul Heyman said people will always complain, even about important figures like Jesus, Moses, Muhammad, and God. He pointed out that no president has ever had everyone’s approval.
“There are people that criticize Jesus, there are people that criticize Moses, Muhammad, and God. There’s no president that has existed that has a 100% approval rating. Obviously, the decision was made—it’s time to bring back Brock Lesnar.
This comes after reports claimed that WWE Legal had cleared Brock Lesnar for his return four weeks ago, but Paul Heyman has made it clear that everything happened in a couple of weeks. Nonetheless, we’ll have to see how WWE will book Lesnar in the coming weeks as it’s clear the Beast Incarnate is back for good.
